The FDA approved the first genetic eye disease for adult retinal implants Argus II

America food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the approval of Argus II, a retinal prosthesis system as the first implantable treatment of adult advanced retinitis pigmentosa (RP) device. The device consists of a small video camera, emission of glasses, image processing unit (VPU) and implanted retinal prosthesis (artificial retina) composition, replace the degeneration of retina cell function, and improve the patient perception of the image and motion.
